Winter 2010 Music Preview

Long Time Coming:  Perhaps artists such as Lil’ Wayne, Massive Attack, Peter Gabriel, and Owen Pallett were just waiting for the new decade?

Lil' Wayne The year has only just started, but already there’s something cool about 2010: it feels as though we’re living in the future. It’s the year of Arthur C. Clarke’s Odyssey Two, the clean sheet at the outset of the Teens, and the beneficiary of a much snappier name than its predecessor (at last we can stop saying “two thousand” instead of “twenty”). Perhaps it’s 2010’s cachet that has inspired so many musicians to delay releases of long-awaited albums into the next few months … or maybe it’s just laziness. Either way, this winter, the music industry will still be catching up with the past.
