Vinyl Rules Again on Record Store Day

Toronto Parties Like It’s 1977

Beach Boys - Good Vibrations It’s the most wonderful time of the year — for independent record stores, at least. Record Store Day was first celebrated in 2007 in the U.S., and today, on its third anniversary in Canada, 145 stores across the country are stocking exclusive vinyl (and a few CD) releases, including reissued rarities and new music by famous artists and cult favourites. Many will host in-store performances as well. We’ve spoken with owners and staff at four of Toronto’s 16 participating stores to find out why, despite the record industry’s air of doom and gloom, they’re so enthused.
