Album Review: Michael, by Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson - Michael Good news about Michael Jackson’s first posthumous collection: for one thing, it’s short.

This grab-bag of 10 tracks, recorded between the 1980s and last year, is as svelte as his classics, Off the Wall and Thriller. Cynics will say this is because the Jackson Estate still needs to come up with nine albums to fulfill its US$250-million contract with Sony. Nonetheless, Jacko’s past three albums were bloated, 77-minute affairs, as The King of Pop felt the need to assert his reign in the CD era; it’s refreshing that Michael doesn’t feel like a chore to get through.
